A man has been shot dead in a brazen midday attack on Turton and Eiselen Street, near Rite, right next to Daveyton Mall. The incident occurred at approximately 13:10 on Wednesday, leaving the community shocked.
According to eyewitnesses, the victim was travelling in a silver Chevrolet and was seated inside the vehicle when unknown assailant(s) suddenly opened fire. The attackers reportedly fired multiple shots—allegedly as many as nine—before fleeing the scene towards the nearby hostel area.
The man sustained several gunshot wounds and was declared dead at the scene.
Emergency Medical Services are currently on site, while police have cordoned off the area and are awaiting forensic teams to process the crime scene. The road has been closed to traffic as investigations continue, and motorists are advised to use alternative routes to avoid delays.
