Tsakane, Gauteng – Neo Mahlangu, a 16-year-old boy, was tragically killed by his aunt, Andile Aalivirah Mthembu (36), along with her 14-year-old son. Neo’s body was discovered at his aunt’s home, located at House Number 6367 Masia Street, Tsakane, Gauteng Province.
It appears that Neo had traveled from Daveyton to visit his aunt in Tsakane, where he was murdered. After the killing, the aunt reported to the police on 16 March 2022 that Neo had died. Once the investigation revealed the truth, Andile Mthembu was arrested for murder, alongside her 14-year-old son, who helped his mother beat Neo and conceal his body.
Adding to the shocking details, the aunt had attempted to trick people into giving her money by claiming she would install a water tank (Jojo tank). She paid those who assisted her, but the tank was never purchased. The ritual was actually used as part of the plan to kill Neo Mahlangu. Her 14-year-old son later fled to KwaZulu-Natal, reportedly to avoid arrest in connection with Neo’s murder.
This heinous crime has deeply shocked the local community. Police continue their investigations to ensure that all those responsible are held accountable under the law.
