Family Horror in Maboloka: Acid Attack Claims Life of Young Woman, Suspect Released on Bail

A quiet evening turned into a nightmare for the Kgatla family on 19 November 2025 in Maboloka, Malerato, when four young men allegedly entered their home and carried out a brutal acid attack that left the entire household severely injured.

According to early reports, the Kgatla family was relaxing at home at around 19:30 when the suspects arrived, carrying a jack filled with acid. Without warning, they allegedly splashed the corrosive substance on the family members, targeting the children first before turning to the adults.

The victims have been identified as:

•Eunice Kgatla – the first-born daughter, who suffered critical injuries and tragically passed away in ICU yesterday.

•Fornunate Kgatla – the second-born, who sustained serious burns.

•Everly Kgatla – the mother of the household, also badly injured.

•Aniki, a close family friend who happened to be visiting at the time.

Emergency services responded quickly, but the severity of the burns has left the community shocked, mourning, and demanding answers.

Local residents expressed outrage after learning that one of the suspects — whose identity has not yet been officially released — was arrested but later granted bail of just R1,500, sparking concerns about the justice system’s handling of the case.

Community members and activists are now calling for a full investigation, harsher charges, and stronger protection for the surviving victims, who are still fighting for their recovery.

Authorities have confirmed that investigations are ongoing, and additional arrests are expected as police continue to track the three remaining suspects.

The Maboloka community remains heartbroken, calling for justice for Eunice and healing for the survivors of this horrific attack.
