A 52-year-old man from Limpopo has been arrested for allegedly running an KFC from his home. Shockingly, his homemade KFC was reportedly receiving more orders than official KFC South Africa!
So far this year, his store is said to have generated an income of R38 million. He also employed 86 previously unemployed youth, assigning them roles such as cooks, online order processors, delivery drivers, and supervisors.
Allegedly, all employees whether managers, cleaners, or drivers were paid equally, receiving R3,500 every Sunday morning. According to reports, they worked on a flexible 4-day schedule with 3 days off per week. In addition, each employee received a R5,000 monthly bonus, separate from their weekly pay.
In a surprising turn, the magistrate refused to sentence the 52-year-old to prison, instead issuing a warning and advising him to register his business legally.
