Second Suspect Appears in Court for Murder of Ekurhuleni Metro Police Officer

Springs, Gauteng – The investigation into the murder of Ekurhuleni Metro Police Officer, Banele Skhosana (32), has taken a significant turn with the appearance of a second suspect in court. Sibongile Prudence Dlamini (42), the deceased's wife and business partner, joined Nhliziyozabantu Magwanyana (34) in the dock at the Springs Magistrate's Court on Monday, February 17, 2025.

Officer Skhosana was tragically killed on Friday, February 7, 2024, on Vilakazi Street in KwaThema. It is alleged that he was offloading stock for a tuck shop he co-owned with Dlamini when two unknown men ambushed him, firing shots that proved fatal. The assailants then fled the scene.

Following a thorough investigation, Dlamini was arrested on Friday, February 14, 2025, after being linked to the murder. Magwanyana was apprehended earlier, on February 10, 2025, at a hostel in KwaThema.

Dlamini's first court appearance coincided with Magwanyana's second, as they both stood before the Springs Magistrate's Court on Monday. The case has been postponed to Friday, February 24, 2025, to allow for further investigation.

Officer Skhosana was laid to rest this past weekend. The community and his colleagues mourn the loss of a dedicated officer. The arrest of a second suspect, particularly the deceased's wife, Dlamini, adds a complex layer to this already tragic case, and the upcoming court proceedings are anticipated with keen interest as the investigation continues to unfold.
